[EN] My homepage finally updated!
[disponible en français ici]
I have been talking about this for a long time, but recently i procrastinated a lot… Anyway, now it’s over, i’m done and i can proudly announce that the new version of my personal homepage is online!.
www.nicolasdaudin.com is now under PHP5. For you it’s a very slight change but for me its a gain of time in the content administration (now dynamic) and in the internationalization of my page. Plus i got to go over my basis in PHP.
I also took this opportunity to update the layout of my page, removing some items from the menu, to leave a clear menu leading to the most important: my blog, my personal profile and my profesional profile.
Updates are not over yet, especially in the content of these pages. Besides, i am thinking of adding a section concerning the design of web pages similar to mine… but i’ll let you know on that matter.
Anyway, feel free to go to my page have a look, and please give me your feedback, positive or negative.
Nicolas.
[available in english here]
Nicolas.
Some updates here and there…
Some updates on my personal page and my blog.
Updates on my blog
On my blog now you can find two new links :
- subscribe to my newsletter : it will be sent everytime there is an update on this blog
- subscribe to my RSS feed
Both are using feedburner (soon a blog post about our growing dependency on Google
)
I have been trying to add some commercial ads (via Adsense) but so far i cannot make it work … (i’m not planning to make money out of this blog, like this girl, not with my 10 daily readers, but this is a first experimentation for my future Web developments)
Updates on my personal website
Concerning my website, i added a Word version of my CV for each language. I am still working on the PHP upgrade, well on the admin interface in the backoffice, and i’m slowly getting to an end. During my holidays, i worked on implementing the complete create-read-update-delete cycle for the news (in the home page), and tried to follow MVC standards applied to PHP. The core is working but i still have to improve all the MVC-related code, cause MVC with PHP is somehow different from the MVC i did under Java and Flex.
With Christmas and New Years’ Eve, i dont have time right now to finish the first major update of my website, but i hope to get it done soon. (Im already thinking of a second major update, but it concerns more the content than the backend – i want to highlight my profesional profile and my IT skills).
Anyway, stay tuned (subscribe to the newsletter or the RSS feed
)
Now on Technorati!
Very soon i’ll be referenced by Technorati.
Oh it’s not really a big deal, its just part of the process, you know, to be known on the web.
Technorati is a popular Internet search engine mainly focused on blogs.
Technorati looks at tags that authors have placed on their websites. These tags help categorize search results, with recent results coming first. Technorati rates each blog’s « authority », the number of unique blogs linking to the blog over the previous six months.
So far i think just two blogs are linking to my blog, but this is not really a surprise.
To register your blog in Technorati, you first have to create a user account there. Once confirmed, you have to claim for your blog in your profile, which basically consists in saying « that url is my blog ». After some time, Technorati team will contact you back and ask you to publish a new blog post including a special token (you can include it as an hidden text input within a form: Technorati will go through your source code and find that token anyway). You can then go back to your profile and verify your claim, which will tell Technorati that your blog is ready for verification : Technorati then finds the token in your code and tells you that your claim is awaiting review.
And then… i still have to figure out what will happen
